Beautifully detailed Meissen cup, circa 1800, decorated wirh country scenes. This is one of the most finally decorated pieces of Marcolini period porcelain that I have seen. The hand painted scene depicts a rustic landscape with travellers including a man with a walking stick and a little dog. It is accompanied by painted wild flowers and puce shell motif, a design inspired by some of the ceramics at the time coming out of France but also with Japanese symbolism.
The tea cup appears to be in near perfect condition with a very small scratch inside the bowl. The inside of the bowl is also decorated with flowers. On the base of the cup is the famous Meissen swords with a star placing it to around 1800 in date. The cup measures 8 cm in diameter and around 5 cm in height. Originally this cup formed part of a travelling set of around 40 pieces. The teacup will be posted first class and signed for. This item is in the category "Antiques\Other Antiques".
