FOLK ART PAINTED AND CARVED WOOD HORSE. 20th century, unsigned, designed to be entirely disassembled Item # 305FEB10P.

An incredibly fun and playful carved and painted folk art horse, it is a clever design that entirely disassembles. It utilizes tenons for three legs and a slot dovetail for the half-bent front leg, the tail attaching with a dowel and the head lifting off - all elements assemble or disassemble without any joinery or even pegs, using pressure fits only. The body of the horse is beautifully carved with a whimsical motif and painting throughout. The surface is heavily patinated and shows delightful wear throughout from years of enjoyment.

Probably from the first half of the 20th century. Measurements: 25 1/2" H x 8" D x 24 1/4 W.

Condition Report: Repair to the slot dovetail of the raised leg, shrinkage cracks to wood, extensive wear and loss of paint to the surface throughout including chipping and wear to the wood throughout. Paint not examined under UV for originality/inpainting, but we certainly can upon request. My name is Andrew Silla and my wife and I own and operate Silla, ltd in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.
